Customer Interviews No. 3

For this round of interviews, I decided to talk to people who all live on campus. Because they are my target audience for this project, I really wanted to see their opinions on my idea. I wrote out my business proposal on an index card.

It stated:
"Chomp n' Run" - Have you ever dropped your toothbrush on the floor of your dorm bathroom and needed a new one ASAP? Things like this happen to everyone. Students at UF do not have access to a drug store on campus. Over 8100 students who live on campus could benefit by this drug store. They would not have to take a bus or lose their parking spot to go to an off campus store. Students living off campus could also benefit by being able to pick up items they need during breaks between classes. For these reasons, I believe that UF should open "Chomp n' Run" behind the Hub and Marston for an easy to find location. It could be advertised in the busses and libraries. While prices would need to be cheap to gain customer loyalty and compete with a new CVS on 13th street, it could still have competitive prices and turn a profit.

I had to ask a few questions to some people to get more complete responses, but they mostly just reflected on the pitch. Here are the responses:

I was honestly not very surprised by the responses I got. There is a demand for my project, and I think that it could do well.

  1. Hi Megan,

I have never lived on campus at University of Florida but I can see how inconvenient it would be for students if the closest convenient store is pretty far out. I can't imagine the frustration I would feel and would be begging students with cars for a favor. I also thought the interviews were done very nicely and everyone seemed very friendly! However maybe next time you can add opinions from both males and females so you can get takes from both sides!

Overall great idea and great interviews. I hope to run into your blog post again sometime.

  2. Megan,

Considering it is an inconvenience to go to your car that is most likely at the commuter lot as a freshman living on campus, I believe there is a demand for Chomp-n-Run. However, why doesn't the Hub or Rawlings Subway/store sell toiletry items such as a toothbrush, tissues or hairbrush? Fortunately, I bought a scooter freshman year which made it easier to avoid this problem, although I know many students do not have this luxury. http://palombiblogs.blogspot.com/2016/02/customer-interviews-no3.html#comment-form
